IThe Pongola River Company operates out of a beautiful little camp situated under a stand of Sycamore Fig trees on the banks of the Pongola River and within a 300ha conservancy. The camp is unashamedly rustic with 10 Canvas Dome tents as accommodation kitted out with camping cots and mattresses. Solar power provides enough electricity to light the camp while a boiler provides hot water for the showers. Reed screens around the flush toilets and showers provide the necessary privacy while blending in with the natural vegetation. The charm of the camp lies in it’s proximity to the river – you could not get any closer! In fact the whole camp is mobile as it has to get taken down during the annual flood release. 

 

Whether you are interested in canoeing, fishing for the mighty Tiger fish or the phenomenal bird life the camp is ideally situated to explore the Pongola floodplain. And if it all gets too much for you feel free to slide into a hammock or relax on the beach in front of camp.

 

Please note we offer catered and self catered trips. The kitchen is a 5x5m Canvas tent with a gas oven and a gas deepfreeze. All cutlery and crockery is provided. Electrical appliances such as cell phones may be charged during the day when the solar panel is operational.
